In 1983, Richard Lougee, known also as Skip, joined the agency following his employment with a major life insurer.
Skip attained his broker's licenses that year and worked to expand the business further.
In addition, Skip automated the agency to grow the client base in a more efficient manner.
In this time Skip has served as President of the Plymouth Area Agents Association;
Director of the AMS National Users Group (with over 11,000 members countrywide);
President of the Boston Gemini Users Group;
Director of CURA VNA;
President of the Old Colony Club of Plymouth, MA;
President of the Duxbury Business Association;
and as Membership Chairman for the Philanthropic Society, Inc. of Duxbury.
Through his volunteerism, Skip has gained a broad-based knowledge of the community and the people serving the community.
This knowledge has provided a helpful insight into the needs of the community where Lougee Insurance has been able to lend a helpful hand, both professionally and through Philanthropy.
Skip Lougee is also licensed as an advisor of insurance, which permits the offer of insurance services on a fee basis in lieu of commission-based earnings.
Although most clients are satisfied with the level of services offered through the commission-based approach, this is a viable alternative for the more sophisticated insurance buyer.

June 29,1927 - October 17, 2004
At approximately 9:00 AM Sunday October 17th Ted Lougee passed away at his home at 23 Bay Farm Road in Duxbury.
As many of you know he had been sick for the past two years and had reached a point where he felt that he had been blessed with a full life and many wonderful years to share with his friends and family.
Ted formally established the agency on April 1, 1967 and retired on December 31, 1994.
It was then that he sold the agency to his son Richard "Skip" Lougee.
His daughter Christine Merry, also a licensed insurance broker, is very active with operation of the agency also.
In August of 2004, he and Joan Lougee had celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary.
He took great delight in the fact that Susan Lougee Thomas, Christine Merry, Jane Wheble and Skip Lougee - along with their own families - all lived close-by in Duxbury where he could visit with them regularly.
Together with friends and family, on October 20th 2004, we celebrated his life and laid him to rest.
While he is no longer with us, his legacy will live on.
We will do our utmost at Lougee Insurance to continue with a thorough attention to detail and a concientious effort in the best interest of our clients.
Thank you so much for your well-wishes, notes, cards, and phone calls.
He truly loved you one and all and he will be missed!
